US President Donald Trump believes that Washington should be maintaining good relations with Moscow and Beijing, but the United States should never allow other countries using it in their own interests.
Speaking at the American Farm Bureau Federation's 101st Annual Convention on January 19 in Austin, Texas, the US president said it is beneficial enjoying good relations with China and Russia, as well as with other countries, TASS reports.
"Having a good relationship with China is good, and Russia - is good, and with many other countries - is a good thing," Trump said addressing the convention. "But we don’t want people taking an advantage of us."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov paid a working visit to the United States at the invitation of the US side on December 10, 2019. While in Washington DC, Lavrov held talks with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and was received by US President Donald Trump.
After the visit, Lavrov stated that President Trump was aware of beneficial results from good relations with Russia, but some forces in the United States disagree with the presidential point of view and obstruct the development or relations between Moscow and Washington.
