The topic of the common future of Russia and Ukraine is the key point of the article that Russian President Vladimir Putin has written on the matter, Russian State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on Telegram.
"No matter how hurt we are by today’s developments in Ukraine, these are fleeting moments by historical standards. All that the Ukrainian authorities are trying to do is a passing thing. And as far as the people are concerned - our united people - their actions are dishonest. This is why Vladimir Putin’s article is focused on the future of Russia and Ukraine, our common future," Volodin pointed out, TASS reports.
He expressed support for the president’s idea that "there is no place for a sovereign Ukraine in the ‘anti-Russia project,’ and hatred and animosity are a fragile foundation for Ukrainian statehood." Volodin emphasized that "millions of people in Ukraine get this message."
Putin’s article was published on the Kremlin’s website on Monday. He pointed out that the West sought to turn Ukraine into something resembling Russia’s polar opposite to achieve its own goals, but Moscow would never tolerate this. Putin was confident that Ukraine was only capable of gaining true independence in a partnership with Russia. According to Putin, Russia was open to dialogue with Ukraine and discussions on the most complicated issues.
