July 16, in front of the Supreme Rada (parliament) building in Kiev, the movement began collecting signatures in support of holding a referendum on the division of Ukraine into two parts - the eastern and the western halves. P. Zarifullin believes the referendum can be held at the end of the fall. At least, the "Eurasian Youth Union" proposes to collect the required number of signatures by that time. However, the EYU leader does not rule out the process developing much quicker. He said that the previous day information had been received from the city of Donetsk and the Crimea that the people of those two regions would enthusiastically vote in support of the split.
"To end the current interminable political crisis of Ukrainian statehood, the EYU proposes a division of the country. Western Ukraine gravitating toward the West would separate from Eastern Ukraine and join the European Union. Eastern Ukraine would join the Eurasian integration structures and the Union of Russia and Byelorussia. The two formations may be divided along the old geopolitical boundary established by the Riga Treaty of 1921 – the so-called "Stalin Line", believes the EYU leadership.
Ukrainian "Eurasians" believe that, failing the separation, a civil war is in store for Ukraine, with a possible occupation of the country by NATO, following which a guerrilla war would definitely break our in Eastern Ukraine.
