An international arms exhibition to be held in Omsk

By decision of the Russian government, the 7th International Exhibition of Military Equipment, Technologies and Armaments for the Ground Forces titled "VTTV-Omsk-2007" and a scientific-technical conference "Armor-2006" will be held in Omsk, Russia, June 5-9, 2007.

At this time, construction of a new exhibition complex is underway, to become a permanent venue for "VTTV-Omsk" exhibitions. The first stage of the construction is to be completed by the time of the opening of the exhibition. Modernization of Firing Range 242 of the airborne troops training center is also in progress. An on-the-spot session of the working group set up to uphold the development of the firing range will be held shortly.

After a meeting held yesterday it was announced that the exhibition is sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Command of the Airborne Troops, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the "Rosoboronexport" arms exporting organization, the Federal Defense Ordering Service, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, enterprises of the defense-industrial complex and scientific institutions, as well as some Russian regions (the Regions of Tula, Penza, Chelyabinsk, Tomsk, Vologda, Ohrenburg and the Republic of Tatarstan).
