India Bracing Itself for New Terrorist Attacks

According to the national security advisor to the Indian prime-minister, due to a heightened threat of terrorist attacks protection of all nuclear facilities in the country has been reinforced.

September 5 Indian premier Manmohan Singh disclosed that India's special services had warned of possible attempts to destabilize the situation in the country, including through the use of suicide bombers.

Among the possible targets for terrorist attacks are religious centers, army barracks, nuclear power stations and other vital facilities. The latest of the big acts of terror committed in India was that of July 11 when 200 people were killed and 800 injured in Bombay in a series of blasts in suburban trains and at railway stations.
