RF MFA: Withdrawal from CIS to Have Grave Consequences for Georgia Itself

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Andrey Nesterenko said to journalists that withdrawal of Georgia from the Community of Independent States will have grave consequences for the Georgian people. The high-ranking diplomat reminded that it has been within the CIS framework that mutually advantageous economic, business, humanitarian and other interstate ties have been maintained.

Let us recall that speaking at a meeting in Tbilisi attended by 2,000-5,000 people, Mikhail Saakashvili claimed: "We bit farewell to the Soviet Union and we will not return there. We urge Ukraine and other CIS member-states to withdraw from this organization, which is commanded by Russia without permission of other countries".
