OSCE to Take Part in Inspection of Tbilisi-Tskhinval Gas Pipeline

Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Djioyev of South Ossetia said that OSCE experts will take part in inspection of a gas pipeline running from Georgia to South Ossetia.

"On January 13, OSCE representatives together with experts of South Ossetia will inspect the Tbilisi-Tskhinval gas pipeline. The inspection will be performed in order to re-confirm its serviceability and inconsistency of Georgian claims on the pipeline damage as a reason of Russian gas supply blockage to the Republic”, he said.

In August 2008 during the armed conflict the gas distribution network of the Republic was damaged. According to South Ossetia all repair works on the network were accomplished in October, however the Georgian side does not deliver the Russian gas to the Republic referring to the gas pipeline failure.
