Georgia’s Authorities Prohibited Musicians to Sing Songs in Russian

Georgia’s authorities covertly prohibited musicians to sing songs in Russian at Georgian restaurants. According to the Maestro Georgian TV station, last week directors of large restaurants were summoned to the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia where they were warned that performance of Russian folk songs would be fined 500 lari (about 277 dollars).

The directors were also warned that the order must be communicated to the staff of the restaurants, but they can not disclose from whom it was obtained. The Georgian newspaper Alia calls the name of the official who had given this order – Head of Revenue Service in Georgian Ministry of Finance, Giorgi Tskhakaia.
