A working group for the Eurasian police establishment has been created
Law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus have established a working group to examine the creation of a Eurasian police on the territory of the Customs Union, said the head of the Department for Combating Extremism at the Criminal Police Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yerkin Kaliyev.
“Currently the Ministry together with colleagues from Russia and Belarus has established a working body to work out the issue of creation of a Eurasian police on the territory of the Customs Union,” said Kaliyev at a conference on “Counter-terrorism in modern times” in the Majilis. “It was the president’s mission, and it is being executed.” he reminded.
For the first time the idea of Evrazpole was announced in late January, by Nursultan Nazarbayaev in his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan. The president justified his decision by the need to strengthen the fight against transnational organized crime, which can cause serious damage to any economic projects, primarily in the CES area.
