The U.S. Embassy denied the accusations made to the National Democratic Institute (NDI), of the alleged preparation of a color revolution in Azerbaijan through social networks. Such opinion was expressed in the article by the head of the NGO "For Human Rights" Eynulla Fatullayev "$2 million to "Facebook" revolution in Azerbaijan" published on the Haqqin.az on March 10.
The Embassy's response to the Turan agency's request said: "The accusations in this article are unfounded. The National Democratic Institute and its director work in support of the civil society of Azerbaijan and its democratic development. The NDI is completely transparent before the government of Azerbaijan about its work here since 1995, and its activities are carried out under terms of the agreement on registration by the Ministry of Justice," the Embassy's response said.
The above article said the NDI representative works with youth organizations of Azerbaijan to prepare a revolution according to the scenario of "color revolutions" carried out in other post-Soviet countries. It was alleged that the NDI used with this view large sums of money in cash.
