Russia plans to host the Fourth Caspian Summit in 2014
Context:

Russia expects to host the Fourth Caspian Summit in 2014, said Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

According to him, the issue of holding of such a meeting will be discussed on Friday in the course of the talks of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Iran Hassan Rohani, which will be held on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek.

The talks will also discuss the regional cooperation in the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea.

The previous summits of heads of Caspian states were held in Ashkhabad (April 2002), Tehran (October 2007) and Baku (November 2010).

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov said following the session of the working group, the Caspian countries have made progress in harmonizing certain provisions of the draft convention on the Caspian Sea's legal status.

At the same time, he noted, a number of questions on this subject remain in abeyance - in particular, the matters of security and division of the seabed.

According to him, in the first half of next year there will be a meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian countries, which will discuss the preparation for the summit of Caspian states.
