Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexei Meshkov during talks in Athens with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Evangelos Venizelos urged Europe not to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine. The diplomat stressed that Russia is ready to cooperate with the EU in order to achieve economic development and social well-being.
"Our side once again stressed the importance of non-interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine", Meshkov said.
According to him, it is necessary "to allow the Ukrainians to determine their choice themselves."
"It is principally important for us not to rock the boat, but really seek solutions to pressing economic problems in Europe. And such problems can not be solved on the Maidan, but are solved at the table of serious negotiations in search for ways out of the economic crisis in Europe, the economic situation improves in Ukraine as well", Meshkov said.
He reminded that most Eastern Partnership countries are members of the CIS, there are also members of the CSTO, and hundreds of multilateral agreements are signed with them in these formats.
Meanwhile, according to media reports, the European Union and Ukraine have begun work on a "road map" that will become a working document fixing the conditions of signing the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergey Arbuzov following his visit to Brussels.
"Our strategic objective is the European integration" - said Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister after talks with European Commissioner on integration Stefan Fule.
