North Korea asks for Russia's assistance in overcoming the crisis on the Korean peninsula. It was announced by Alexei Chepa, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for International Affairs, who was a member of the parliamentary delegation to the DPRK.
«We had a meeting with the Foreign Minister, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. They asked for Russia's participation in the settlement of the issue on the Korean Peninsula. They understand that without the Russian Federation, no problem can be solved in the world», – the diplomat noted.
The deputy stressed that «Russian-Chinese road map on double freezing is the only possible way to resolve the situation».
«They are not ready yet to implement Russia’s and China’s proposals, and they also perceive US policy as a threat. They told us about the problems that Iran had after signing the treaty with the six world powers and how the US intends to break the Iranian deal», – Chepa said.
The delegation of the State Duma as a «Friendship Group» led by its coordinator Kazbek Taysaev visited Pyongyang at the invitation of the government of the state from November, 27 to December, 1.
