Expulsion of Russian diplomats poses more problems for Europe than for Russia, the director of the Roosevelt Foundation for Studying US at Moscow State University political scientist Yuri Rogulev said.
"Expulsion of Russian diplomats from the US is not directly related to the former colonel's issue, Washington has its own political motives", the expert said.
"The countries of the European Union have expelled Russian diplomats solely as a sign of solidarity with Britain and seriously take these actions are not worth it. The UK is seeking certain support from the EU countries in the case of spy poisoning, and in the end it becomes a problem for these countries", Rogulev added.
According to him, the meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States may take place despite the expulsion of diplomats.
"Pressure on Russia from the United States has been going on for a long time. The doctrine of deterrence appeared more than half a century ago and is still in effect. Attempts of pressure on Russia will be repeated at any convenient opportunity. Moscow can protect itself and advance its interests only having a strong economy, a strong army and a fleet", the expert stressed.
