Russia’s Central Bank expects absence of structural economic changes to curb growth to 1.5-2% per year

Context:

According to TASS, a lack of structural reforms in Russia’s economy will curb its economic growth to around 1.5-2% per year, First Deputy Chief of the Bank of Russia Ksenia Yudaeva said Monday.

According to Yudaeva, the Central Bank’s latest economic development outlook does not take into account the tax and budget measures proposed by the government. Meanwhile, both the regulator’s and the government’s outlooks cover the probability of low growth rates if no structural reforms are carried out.

"If nothing is done, if measures aimed at changing the economic structure are carried out, economic growth will be very slow, around 1.5-2% per year," she said.
