Head of the Georgian Interior Ministry, Vano Merabishvili, has confirmed the detention of a man suspected of an assassination attempt on President Bush.

The detention of Vladimir Vladimirovich Arutiunian, 27, unemployed, has become possible thanks to the information received from the people after a photo of the suspect has been shown on TV.

According to V. Merabishvili, V. Arutiunian showed resistance at detention. Head of the Security Department of the Georgian Interior Ministry, Zurab Kvlividze, was killed in the shooting.

At the suspect's home, Georgian policemen found detonators, chemical reagents and special tools needed for making explosive devices.
