Putin expresses condolences over devastating floods in India

Context:

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences over the devastating floods in the Indian state of Kerala, which have claimed numerous lives, the Kremlin press service informed, TASS reports.

In a telegram sent to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Putin stressed that "Russia shares the grief with the friendly people of India and hopes for the soonest recovery of those injured as a result of this natural disaster."

Rains continue in the state of Kerala, which leads to the rising of water in Indian rivers. Several cities, namely Chalakudy and Thrissur, are almost completely flooded. Latest reports suggest that up to 357 people were killed in the floods.
