Moscow to Buy a Holiday Resort in Bulgaria

A spokesman of the Government of Moscow told journalists that a special inter-departmental commission for acquiring property abroad would consider buying some ports in the Baltic states and a skiing resort in Bulgaria, to become the city's property.

Moscow's Vice-Mayor, Iosif Ordzhonikidze, says "the skiing resort in Bulgaria might cost about $20 million, but Bulgarian President himself has made a special offer for us to buy it for $6 million". According to I. Ordzhonikidze, the total area of the resort is about 60 hectares, where 2 health centers and several cable elevators are situated.

He also said that the question of buying writer Ivan Tourguenev's country estate in the Paris suburb of Bougival is being considered.
