The alert air defense force destroyed four rockets, which terrorists fired from multiple launch systems at the Hmeymim airbase in Syria, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday.
"At about 19:00 hours on May 22, terrorists fired four rockets from a multiple rocket launcher at the Hmeymim airbase. All the rockets were timely detected by the Russian air defense capabilities and destroyed," TASS quoted the ministry as saying.
"By its precision strike, Russia’s air task force aircraft destroyed the terrorists’ launcher in the Idlib de-escalation zone," the statement says.
Also, the terrorists’ two drones attacked the al-Zara electric power plant located in the northwest of the city of Hama, the ministry said.
"Five improvised bombs were dropped on the power plant’s building. Insignificant damage was done to the power plant while there are no casualties. One of the terrorists’ drones was shot down by the Syrian government troops," the statement says.
Syrian Electricity Minister Muhammad Kharboutli told SANA news agency on Thursday that the thermal power plant had resumed electricity supplies to cities and the countryside in the Syrian northern region.
