Mironov: Facts of International Law Violation by Georgia to Be Investigated

Sergey Mironov, Chairman of the Russian Council of Federation, claimed that it is necessary to carefully investigate all facts of international and Russian law violation by Georgia.

"The subject of inquire should include numerous facts of violation of the international humanitarian law and Russian legislation by Georgia with respect to Russian peacekeepers and civil population of South Ossetia as well as citizens of the Russian Federation”, Sergey Mironov claimed speaking about the plans of work with the Government at an annual meeting of state-secretaries.

According to the Chairman of the Higher Chamber of the Russian Parliament, the Government in light of the official recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by Russia should develop a regulatory base for cooperation with these states. At the same time, Mironov mentioned that the treaties on friendship and cooperation were recently signed with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

"The Council of Federation and Government should discuss joint efforts aimed at legal provision of international cooperation with these states”, he added.
