Vyacheslav Kovalenko and 20 other staff members of the Russian Embassy in Georgia as well as their dependencies returned to Moscow on Tuesday after Tbilisi broke its diplomatic relations with Russia.
"It was not Russia that broke the relations with Georgia, it was Georgia and therefore Georgia should make the first move to restore the relations with Russia”, the Russian diplomat said.
According to Kovalenko, the Georgian leadership should first of all “change its policy of confrontation with Russia to the policy of neighborliness”.
"I believe that it is in the interests of Georgia itself. Georgia should not make friends with somebody against somebody. As far as I understand, Georgia should be friendly towards everybody gaining benefit for its national interests from this policy”, Kovalenko pointed out.
