The leading topics of discussion became the development of pharmacological industry and production of medical equipment, as well as strategic computer technologies and software.
In his speech the President noted that in spite of a number of positive changes in the Russian pharmaceutical market, the pharmacological industry of the country at present does not issue high-performance modern medicinal preparations and in whole is not ready for serious competition with foreign productions. The President set a task to remove obstacles impeding this industry development – particularly by means of creation of centers capable to ensure a technological breakthrough.
Speaking about the development of a strategic information technologies system in the country, Dmitry Medvedev called the creation of supercomputers and grid systems, introduction of electronic government and development of cultural and cognitive and educational services on the base of the Internet, major tasks in this field. According to Head of state, availability of up-to-date information and telecommunication technologies, high quality state services, broadband access to the Internet are the main indicators of the information-oriented society development in the country. Dmitry Medvedev suggested examining the reduction of budgetary financing of the authorities not implementing decisions on the use of electronic document management system.
Before the beginning of the session Dmitry Medvedev held a working meeting with the governor of Vladimirskaya oblast Nikolai Vinogradov, at which the situation in the labor market was discussed, as well as the development of pharmaceutics and medical technology in the region.
Earlier this day the President visited the LEKKO pharmaceutical company, on the base of which a scientific and production biotechnological centre is being established. This center will ensure a complete manufacturing cycle of new import substituting genetically engineered preparations: from cultivation of producers to officinal medicines. Head of state inspected laboratories, acquainted himself with the process of manufacture of drugs. The President was also submitted a plan of construction of associated infrastructure of the center. Apart from scientific and production structures, a residential compound, kindergarten, cultural and entertainment center and sports complex will be situated here.
