Paralympic Games: Russia Took First Place in the Overall Medal Standings

Russian team took first place in the overall medal standings on the Paralympic Games in Vancouver, winning 38 medals.

On the last day of skiing at 1 kilometer Russian team managed to win eight medals. Sergey Shilov won "gold" in the men's sprint for sitting athletes.

In total, Russian national team won 12 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals. Russia ceded only to Germany in the number of gold medals, which has 13 gold medals.

Team Canada took the third place with 10 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals, followed by Slovakia, Ukraine, United States, Austria, Japan and Belarus. France closes the ten leaders list with 1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals.

The official closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games 2010 was held on Monday, March 22, at the Medal Plaza Square in Whistler, Canada.
