The U.S. Military Mistakenly Killed a Cousin of Afghan President

According to Iranian media, in the course of a special operation in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan, the U.S. troops mistakenly killed a cousin of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

According to Iranian journalists, Haji Yar Muhammad Khan was killed during the raid of the U.S. military in Karzai during an assault of one of the houses.

Information about the incident was confirmed by the authorities of the Kandahar province. Governor Hamdullah Nazek said that an investigation had been initiated into the incident.

It is worthwhile noting that Hamid Karzai has repeatedly criticized the American-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) for the manslaughter of civilians during raids by special forces against suspected militants.

In March 2011 General David Petraeus, the commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan apologized to Karzai for manslaughter of nine children, which occurred as a result of an air attack in the Kunar province. The Afghan president did not accept the American General’s apology.

Moreover, the day before, the U.S.A. Afghan allies from Germany had been accused of killing Afghan civilians. According to representatives of the Afghan police, Bundeswehr servicemen killed a woman and wounded another when patrolling one of the cities.
