“The Russian leadership has expressed readiness to participate in a joint with Ukraine mass production of the AN-148,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Nikolai Azarov at a government session.
He added that Minister of the Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko has already visited the airline in Voronezh to explore the possibility of coproduction:
“Our readiness for productive cooperation is sufficiently high. Therefore, the Antonov corporation can proceed to technological design of such cooperation with Russia.”
A final phase of flight tests of the An-70 is scheduled to be held in mid-2012. Cooperation between the two countries will be established within the framework of all the joint programs: the AN-148, An-158, An-70. Ukraine will manufacture and deliver the wing and engine to the Russian Federation. Russia will manufacture a glider, fuselage and perform final assembly of the aircraft.
