In Syria Special Forces' special forces of Turkey have suffered irreparable losses - an elite officer's Combat Search and Rescue Squadron (CSR). By some accounts, a division of the so-called kelbeti (ghosts) was almost completely destroyed.
As is reported by ANNA-News, the special squad of Turkish General Staff, better known as "maroon berets", was created in 1952, when Turkey joined NATO. Also, a special mobilization task force was created in the country and included units designed to create a guerrilla movement and carry out diversions in case of Soviet attack. Moreover, the force were to act not only in the country but also abroad. From 1985 to the present day, the special force of Turkish General Staff is almost continuously engaged in special operations within the country as well as in Iraq and Syria.
