Syrian president Bashar al-Assad’s wife Asma spoke on Syrian television and said that she would not leave the country.
“I’m here; my husband and my children are here in Syria. It is evident that I will be here with them. How will I be able to teach my children to love Syria, if they do not live here? I was here yesterday, I will be here today and I will be here tomorrow,” she said.
Bashar and Asma al-Assad were married in 2000 - a year before he became president.
