National Security Advisor Susan E. Rice’s said the United States is ready without hesitation to violate the basic obligations in the field of democracy and human rights when it comes to matters of national security.
“One should be honest. Sometimes we keep terms with governments that do not respect these, particularly valuable for us rights, said Rice. - We make a difficult choice. When rights are violated, we continue to insist on their compliance. However, we can not and will not pretend that sometimes we compromise.”
Nevertheless, it is her belief that “in the long term” the U.S.’ interests coincide with traditional American values.
Susan Rice reckoned the authorities of countries such as Iran, Syria and North Korea among the world’s ‘worst violators’ of human rights.
Susan Rice also confirmed that Washington intends to continue to “publicly condemn violations” of human rights in China.
