The alignment of the road map between Russia and China and the capabilities of the SCO, as an addition to settling the situation on the DPRK, will be effective. This was stated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
"If we took as a basis the Russian-Chinese proposal on the problem of the DPRK and combined it with the efforts of the SCO, it would be good," Medvedev said. "This would be an additional opportunity to achieve peace on the Korean peninsula."
He stated that the SCO was created as a platform for solving the issues of ensuring the security of the member countries of the association. "A good experience has been accumulated, an anti-terrorist structure operates, other bodies are working, which, in certain situations, gave recommendations on how to avoid complex consequences," the head of government added.
The politician stressed that the problem of the DPRK has become "extremely acute". According to Medvedev, the Russian-Chinese initiative regulates the "double freeze" mechanism, according to which the DPRK must stop launching missiles, and South Korea and its allies, including the US, refuse to conduct large-scale exercises in the region.
