A club for top military commanders has been founded in Russia. The presentation of the newly-established "Military Commanders' Club" was staged on Tuesday. Russian ex-Minister of Defense, currently Presidential Advisor for Strategic Stability, Marshal Igor Sergueyev, has been elected president of the club.

According to I. Sergueyev, the club will unite in its ranks tens of thousands of reserve officers and generals all over Russia. The objectives of the newly-launched organization will be "to actively contribute to the strengthening of the defensive capability and security of the Russian state, to the fight against the threats of the XXI century and, first and foremost, against international terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction".
