US to Beef up Special Forces by 23,000

April 26, at a hearing in the Senate Committee on Armed Services, Gen. Bryan Brown, commander of the US Special Operations Command (SOC), disclosed plans for increasing the number of personnel under his command by more than 23,000.

The expansion would affect all SCO units, while the combat elements of the special forces would be reinforced by about 500 men. Two additional seals detachments would be provided for the Navy.
