Bird Flu Turns up in Sweden

Bird flu has been detected in Sweden. Epidemiologists are working to find out if the strain is lethal. Several dead ducks, one of them showing signs of bird flue, were found on the eastern outskirts of the capital.

A spokesman of the Swedish Veterinary Institute told journalists that its experts were trying to find out, first of all, if the virus was similar to the one currently spreading in Asia and if it was dangerous for man. But, according to the scientists, it was too early to sound the alarm, as at this time of the year 20-30 percent of birds are affected by various flu virus types that are not dangerous for man.
