By 2020 the People's Republic of China will become the largest producer and consumer of motorcars on our planet. This forecast was made by experts of the PRC State Council. Last year China produced over 5 million automobiles, becoming the world's fourth largest car producer after the USA, Japan and Germany.

Experts urge carmakers to produce economical cars, which would reduce the country's dependence on petroleum supplies from abroad. At present practically all main world car manufacturers have their plants operating in China.
