As the November midterm congressional elections approach, the situation is growing tense in the United States. And it's not just about the struggle between the country's two key political parties, but about the big picture.
Let's start with the scandal involving ex-President Donald Trump. The search conducted by the FBI at his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate aroused much controversy and marked the beginning of events that could flip the script in the country. President Joe Biden is accused of having been at least aware of the move, and the Department of Justice is being pressed for an explanation for issuing the search warrant. If the incumbent president turns out engaged against his predecessor, he may well face impeachment.
Instead of getting smoothed down, the situation is going to become toxic, not least because of the estate’s owner himself. "Biden knew all about this, just like he knew all about Hunter's 'deals,'' the ex-president posted to his Truth Social website. He implied corruption suspicions against Hunter Biden and his shady affairs in Ukraine. Even without this reminder about the juicy story, the ex-president’s words look like a formidable accusation.
The thing is that Mar-a-Lago is both Trump’s residence and campaign headquarters, which makes any intrusion by law enforcement agencies need an adequate substantiation, while Trump's political opponent should not have a finger in a pie. Otherwise, the Americans involuntarily recall the Watergate scandal, which cost Richard Nixon presidency. His people had infiltrated the headquarters of his rival George McGovern to obtain information about his plans and strategy.
The White House and the Democratic Party tried to justify Joe Biden, saying he knew nothing about the FBI search of Trump's house in Florida. However, they will hardly reverse the scandal for the Democrats’ good. And it's not just that an ex-president has never been searched in the US entire history. A curious coincidence: the FBI plumped upon Mar-a-Lago two days after Trump's impressive speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas. It was regarded as a successful start of the presidential race ahead of the 2024 elections. And it greatly displeased the Democrats, who made up their minds to thwart Trump’s ambitions in any way whatsoever.
Otherwise, the Democratic Party may collapse, as it does not have a real leader at the moment. Everyone apprehends that "sleepy Joe", who will turn 80 in November, is not a proper Democratic candidate to stay in the White House for another four years. And although Biden himself expresses readiness to enter the race, his health condition will unlikely allow him do so.
In this regard, there are rumors that the 46th US president will soon resign and vacate his seat before the end of his term. It is claimed he will hardly manage to stay afloat over three months. Apparently, the Democratic Party is preparing to get rid of the unpopular president dragging the party down, for health reasons and even before the November midterm elections (or right after their failure which will have to be blamed on someone). Isn’t it for a reason that Joe Biden has been persistently calling his "shadow trainee" Kamala Harris president and that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan?
Public opinion polls show it's time for President Biden to resign. For example, in a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll over 70% of US citizens do not want him to run for a second term, with the president's approval rating having dropped to 38%. More honest surveys reveal an even lower figure. So, time is most likely running out for Joe Biden as president. Forebodingly, he went on a week-long vacation to the island of Kauai in the Atlantic Ocean on August 10.
Meanwhile, supporters and opponents of the ex-president are waiting for explanations from the Justice Department after the FBI raided Trump's Florida house. Attorney General Merrick Garland remains silent for some reason, irritating the public. Yet the situation forced nearly all members of the Republican Party to rally around him. Many of them accuse the government of weaponizing the Department of Justice. Notably, House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy twitted a promise to investigate it. Donald Trump himself says the United States has become a third world banana republic.
This might be an exaggeration, and America has a long way to go to be a "banana republic", but something is obviously rotten in the country. This primarily concerns the state of economy standing on the verge of a crisis. Over the 18 months of his presidency, Joe Biden let it degenerate to such a level that inflation exceeded 8.5% for the first time in the last forty years, with fuel prices skyrocketing to $5 per gallon. Back a year ago, it was $2.5. For America, we note, with its developed motor transport sphere, this has a key role in determining the state of economy.
The Biden administration's foreign policy is also a failure. The shameful flight of American troops from Afghanistan last August deserves a special notice, let alone Washington's Ukraine policy. Small wonder in this regard that the Americans are asking a reasonable question: why is the United States spending billions to help the Kiev regime, despite its own struggling economy? And who is going to take responsibility for such a reckless policy? Ordinary taxpayers will unlikely get a somewhat meaningful response, as the White House is plenty busy with other things...
