Numerous reports in the American and European press indicate that Zelensky’s "era" has come to an end. The Americans have already written him off, but getting rid of this guy is so far implausible. The American establishment is increasingly signaling to Zelensky that Western curators demand him to quit voluntarily.
Yet another signal has been sent via the influential Time magazine. The author of its article portrays him as a "fiery patriot" who has come such a long way in his plans that the lagging stupid contemporaries cannot simply understand him. "Nobody Believes in Our Victory Like I Do. Nobody," the author quotes Zelensky as saying in an interview with Time after his recent Washington meetings with the US president, the Pentagon and Congress. The author has made the phrase his article’s headline, with the subtitle reading "Inside Volodymyr Zelensky’s Struggle to Keep Ukraine in the Fight."
This alone suggests that the Biden administration has been looking for options to replace Zelensky. And not even because he, following his fierce pledges and demands for money and arms, has failed to overturn the Russian army. The fact is that Kiev fought with American weapons and money (as of today, the United States has allocated at least $110 billion), guided by American advisers and generally within the American Anti-Russia project. This naturally makes the Biden administration wholly responsible for its failure. But is anyone in the White House ready to embrace that? They need a scapegoat, and Zelensky is a perfect candidate to accuse of the whole bag of tricks like a dead man.
In Washington, Zelensky was offered to appoint a presidential election due on March 31, 2024, as Ukraine should remain a pattern for democracy even in wartime. But Zelensky fancied himself a Ukrainian Fuhrer ready to burn his "Reich" along with the people. After a year of delightful trips to Europe and the USA with an outstretched hand and eloquent speeches making him the "center of the universe" and the only barrier between the "civilized world and barbaric Russia", he proved unable to survive the tragic moment of being shown the door for the first time. The walls are closing in for Zelensky as he saw "fading enthusiasm for a war with no end in sight," as Time put it.
The author skillfully uses Zelensky’s own words and those of his entourage to reflect the atmosphere of tragedy and paranoia that reigns in Ukraine. "His convictions haven’t changed. Despite the recent setbacks on the battlefield, he does not intend to give up fighting or to sue for any kind of peace. On the contrary, his belief in Ukraine’s ultimate victory over Russia has hardened into a form that worries some of his advisers. It is immovable, verging on the messianic. ‘He deludes himself,’ one of his closest aides tells me in frustration. ‘We’re out of options. We’re not winning. But try telling him that.’"
One cannot help thinking that Zelensky is no longer getting delicate hints to quit, but clamors. Recently, the same signal came from Ukraine’s most notable propagandist except for Zelensky himself, former adviser to the presidential office head Alexey Arestovich. Courtesy of the Americans he has been criticizing the current Kiev authorities and his former boss full blast from New York. On his Telegram channel, Arestovich published a message about Ukraine’s "strategic impasse" with a single way out of it being presidential elections. According to him, the Ukrainian "leadership has driven the situation into a dead end and continues to insist on erroneous policies...." "We can no longer expect them to make adequate decisions that suit the situation. This is why the partners are pushing for elections," Arestovich writes. What kind of "partners" is Zelensky's ex-associate talking about? The Americans, sure thing!
A powerful information salvo against Zelensky — naturally, with the knowledge and instructions of Washington — recently came from commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. Britain’s The Economist newspaper released a series of pieces by and interviews with him. Zaluzhny admits that the "counteroffensive" has failed and "there will be no beautiful breakthrough," criticizing Western partners and de facto recognizing Russia's military superiority. Setting all the empty talk aside, it seems like Ukraine’s Western curators are laying the ground for changing its current policy, or rather, the policy of Zelensky, who defies obvious signals and keeps insisting on fighting the war "until a decisive victory over Russia."
Why should Americans replace Zelensky? Because of refusing to negotiate peace with Moscow and even forbidding this legally, he turned into an obstacle to the United States, depriving his patrons room for maneuver in case of failure. The Biden administration seems unwilling to abandon plans of destabilizing Russia by proxy of the likes of Ukraine. However, battle blunders by the Armed Forces of Ukraine do require course updating, such as freezing the conflict even despite the loss of territories by Kiev. The Biden administration could have depicted this as its attainment "in ending the war" given the looming US presidential election.
Moreover, the Americans know that stopping Russia now and retaining control over most of Ukraine is more profitable to them than letting the Russian army approach Kiev or even the Polish-Ukrainian border. One expects that if Zelensky leaves the political stage, Moscow will obtain a supposedly hard-to-refuse peace offer from Washington.
What does the American establishment say to Zelensky? Again, he is offered to appoint a planned presidential election and lose it in exchange for comfortable chalk days. This requires putting up with image losses as Zelensky is going to be overwhelmingly demonized, as mentioned above. If he remembers recent history, Zelensky should understand that it is better to mistrust US promises. There are countless examples of how they treat their own vassals, let alone Venezuelan "interim president" Juan Aguado or potential opposition leader of Belarus Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, both of whom have sunk into oblivion.
If Zelensky persists in his "misunderstanding of the moment", Kiev will suffer another Maidan revolution. Notably, Zelensky himself is already talking about this kind of danger, while putting the future blame on… Moscow. He is persistent and not heeding to his curators but says Ukraine can allow itself to get tired of war, as he told Time. Therefore, he proceeds with "meat assaults" and announces mobilization of women and the elderly.
Without an election, mothers and wives of the fallen soldiers and several dozen offended nationalist battalion fighters would take to the streets of Kiev, followed by a new Maidan and a new president to be tamer than Zelensky the presumptuous, as the United States expect. But Zelensky is probably not going to let this happen. He has been stealing dollars and euros not just to let himself demise like that without using all this "hard-earned money."
Here, a seemingly paradoxical thought creeps in. It is not only the Biden administration that cares about its image and does not want to expose itself as the culprit of Ukraine’s failure. If you look at the other side, Zelensky loathes quite the same, being well aware of APU’s defeat, seeing the sad end of his regime, and therefore trying to run between the raindrops, blaming everything on the United States. But this can only be done if he poses as a "fiery fighter for the freedom of Ukraine", demands fighting till final victory, begs the United States for weapons and talks about being alone in his confidence of Ukraine's victory.
In fact, the current issues with US further financing of the war in Ukraine benefits Zelensky. He is likely waiting to be forcibly removed and "forced to submit to US pressure." He will go into exile with an injured look — to the United States, England or Israel — in order to enjoy life for the "money earned by the sweat of his brow", lamenting in Pushkin-style that "Happiness was so possible, so close!" Which means victory was so close, and America didn't want it to happen. And he will go down in history as a "steadfast fighter" betrayed by the "damn Americans and internal enemies". Classics of the genre, as they say!
And whom will the Americans appoint to replace Zelensky? This is a great mystery! So far, at least. This may be Zaluzhny, or Arestovich with his presidential ambitions. Anyway, Zelensky living abroad with his billions will no longer care about this kind of things.
