Serbia and Republika Srpska have braced for yet another tragic backstabbing by the United States and the entire collective West. Formally, the coming days are set to witness the UN General Assembly, as initiated by Germany and Rwanda, consider a draft resolution recognizing July 11 as Day of Remembrance for victims of Srebrenica Genocide. The Serbs said this would equate them to a "genocidal nation", which is fraught with reparation demands and liquidation of Republika Srpska (RS) as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Russia intends to vote against the draft resolution on Srebrenica. Its UN envoy Vasily Nebenzia has stated that promoting a document of the kind is violation of the Dayton Agreement of 1995. The latter stipulated establishing a de facto artificial state of Bosnia and Herzegovina with its two entities — the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina inhabited by Croats and Muslim Bosniaks, and Republika Srpska inhabited by Serbs. BiH has long been de facto divided into two hostile parts — the pro-Western Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the pro-Russian Republika Srpska, where the Serbs are tooth and nail resisting attempts to demonize them, destroy their identity and make them part of “civilized Europe”.
The expected UN General Assembly draft resolution vote related to the July 1995 Srebrenica genocide and the ban on denying the fact of genocide doubts legitimacy of RS within BiH, according to both its leaders of Serbia and those of Serbia. Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik has repeatedly stated that resolution approval will entail disintegration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"The situation will change dramatically, whether we like it or not. There will be a Chinese wall in mutual relations. We do not want to share air with the Bosniaks, let alone other values. To push the label of something like that on an entire nation, knowing that it did not exist, you have the greatest authorities in the field of genocide, the Holocaust, who say that it was not genocide. If we tell, then they want to put us in prison. Obviously, it didn’t happen here, and that’s why there is a need to impose it through court decisions, political processes,” Dodik said recently in an interview with a Serbian TV channel. In another interview, he said the following: "It is quite possible that the resolution is going to be adopted. This document will only complicate relations within Bosnia and Herzegovina to the point of complete dysfunction." He believes that in the follow-up, Bosnia and Herzegovina will cease to exist. But what does this actually mean?
Earlier, speaking about oppression of the Serbs in Republika Srpska, Dodik repeatedly emphasized that BiH is an artificial and unnatural formation doomed to collapse. If it carries on like this, RS will simply secede from BiH to join mother Serbia. And the provocative UN resolution may serve a trigger to drive local Serbs towards inalterably leaving BiH. Which would cause the BiH to collapse. And given that the West loathes letting the Serbs tear off territory and incorporate it into Serbia, an armed conflict is highly likely.
Having realized the sore distress all the Serbs could face — both in Republika Srpska and greater Serbia, — Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic recently paid a visit to New York to diplomatically ensure that the provocative resolution gets no majority vote at the UN.
According to official Bosnian data, July 1995 saw Dutch peacekeepers abandon the settlement of Srebrenica, followed by the alleged murder of over 8,000 Muslims. Bosnian Serb forces were blamed for this. The International Court of Justice in The Hague qualified those events as genocide, although there was no real evidence of crimes committed by the Bosnian Serbs. In total, about 3,000 people were killed in Srebrenica back then: Muslim militants, Serbian soldiers, and local civilians. But no one has ever seen “thousands of Muslims shot by the Serbs.”
Today, the Serbs have the right to call this a deliberate hoax undertaken by the West to demonize them. British falsifiers did something similar in Bucha in 2022, seeking to create an image of bloodthirsty thugs as represented by Russian military personnel. And this explains the Serbs’ current indignation. They are nearly accused of genocide, despite the fact that during the civil war in the 90s, all the sides did commit atrocities.
In fact, the West is instigating a new open armed conflict in the Balkans, knowing that the Serbs will never tolerate the status of a “genocidal nation” or the abolition of RS within BiH. With the help of the abovementioned UN resolution, the United States is seeking precisely the latter thing, as the RS’s leadership has been explicitly siding with Russia. Washington is trying to take statehood away from the Serbs in Republika Srpska, thereby pushing them to take up arms or announce withdrawal from BiH and affiliation with Serbia. Greater Serbia will naturally prove unable to stand aside, and this means war. Forced into war, the Serbs would fight in an all-around defense, surrounded by states either openly hostile or obviously inclined to take the side of the West in a crisis situation.
The background of this latest provocation by the West against the Serbs is that by openly declaring allied relations with Moscow, Republika Srpska has been an obstacle to drawing BiH into NATO. Without RS leaders’ formal consent, Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot become its full-fledged member. Without Republika Srpska, NATO would have no formal issue. This is what Western logic looks like.
The leadership of greater Serbia also takes a pro-Russian stance, irritating Washington and Brussels. Although maneuvering, official Belgrade has not still allowed forcing itself to embrace anti-Russian sanctions. It acts in tandem with Republika Srpska, supporting each other in a hostile environment.
Today we are witnessing Western endeavors to bring about a “final solution” to the Serbian issue as the Serbs do not want to give up on their centuries-old political and spiritual union with Russia. Ultimately, this is an attempt to destroy Russian influence in the Balkans.
The West’s UN maneuver also aims to divert Russia’s attention and forces to a possible Balkan conflict, whose impelled formal initiators will be the Serbs, who will try to preserve themselves as a single people and restore unity of their historical lands — Serbia and Republika Srpska. In the current climate, Russia is winning in Ukraine but in case of a new war against the Serbs, who are literally being pushed to take up arms, Moscow will face the need to engage in this new Balkan conflict. Western strategists believe Moscow will not be able to sit idly by and refrain from protecting its coreligionists and historical allies — which it failed or did not want to do in the 90s under Yeltsin the drunkard.
The West is nursing a truly satanic scheme, under which both the Serbs and Russians get under attack. The case could quickly escalate into a new Balkan war, which the United States wants to drag Russia into to prevent it from a victory in Ukraine. The UN General Assembly, which will have to consider the provocative resolution formally proposed by Germany and Rwanda, may either slow down this ingenious project or kick it ahead full.
